Board of Trustees Anna
Riggs, Little Rock, Chairwoman of the Board. Of herself,
Ms. Riggs writes she “has a firm and passionate commitment
to the earth and our environment and to the people who inhabit
it.” Raised in Philadelphia in a large Italian family
who spent much of their time backpacking, camping, and sailing,
Ms. Riggs presently works for the Special Education Unit with
the Department of Education. Ms. Riggs does Medicaid policy,
technical assistance, and training for special healthcare
programs in schools around the state. She is Chairman of the
Governor’s Integrated Services Task Force and advocates
for long-term supports for people with disabilities. Trained
as a nurse, Ms. Riggs was a co-founder of the Arkansas Autism
Society and served as its Executive Director for six years.
Ms. Riggs and her husband John share six children with whom
they have cultivated their love for the outdoors while traveling
much of the world in their own sailboat.
Bland Currie, Wilmot. Ms. Currie
participates in the management of her family’s farm in southeast
Arkansas. An active and committed environmentalist and birder,
Ms. Currie is a long time supporter of conservation groups
in the state.
Miles Goggans, Little Rock. Head
of his own consulting firm, Miles Goggans, LLC, Miles specializes
in political and governmental affairs both nationally and
in Arkansas. Miles worked for Senator David Pryor as an agricultural
specialist and was Staff Director for the Senate Subcommittee
for Agriculture Production and Stabilization of Prices. Miles
serves on the Lyon College President’s Council, the
board of the National Conference for Community and Justice
(NCCJ) and the Arkansas Delta Council.
Catherine Grunden, Little Rock.
As director of WesPAC, Catherine oversees all political operations
of retired General Wesley Clark. Catherine brings an impressive
career in U.S. politics and federal government work to the
Audubon board. Catherine’s experience includes working
in the White House, Department of Transportation, and holding
senior-level positions on multiple national campaigns.
Hunter Haynes, Rogers. Hunter is
the Development Principal for Haynes Limited in Rogers, Arkansas.
The firm focuses on land acquisition, project design, architecture
and project construction. In a professional capacity, Hunter
has implemented environmentally sensitive initiatives within
the company’s projects, especially in regard to non-point
pollution of Northwest Arkansas streams. Hunter and his father,
Collins, worked closely with Audubon Arkansas to ensure lasting
conservation measures for springwoods, site of the future
Northwest Arkansas Audubon Center in Fayetteville.
Ann Jennings Shackelford, Montrose,
Vice Chair. A native of Little Rock, Ms. Shackelford lives
on a family farm in southeast Arkansas where her husband,
Craig, operates the farm and participates in the CRP programs
of the USDA. Ms. Shackelford is Vice President of Corporate
Services at Delta Land and Pine Company in Scott, Mississippi
and a noted supporter of Arkansas’ natural and cultural heritage.
Sally Malone, Little Rock. An educator
and counselor in the public schools for 29 years, Ms. Malone
holds an MSE in Biology and a second MSE in Secondary Counselor
Education. In addition to other volunteer activities, Ms.
Malone was appointed to the state Vo-Tech Advisory Council
by then-Governor Bill Clinton, and was the state program chair
for Arkansas PRIDE for ten years. Ms. Malone is currently
serving as a National Advisory Board Member with World PRIDE.
Robin McClendon, Monticello. Robin
McClendon is the Owner and President of SeaArk Boats, a recreational
boat manufacturer in Monticello, Arkansas. A member of the
Young Presidents Organization, Robin is a business leader
in Arkansas as well as a passionate advocate for environmental
and heritage conservation in the state. Presently, Robin serves
on the Mississippi River Parkway Commission and the boards
of Arkansas Delta Byways, Union Bank and Trust. Robin also
serves as a member of an advisory committee to Arkansas Manufacturing
Solutions. An avid birder, Robin has been a supporter and
volunteer for numerous organizations and agencies dedicated
to conserving the environment.
Michael "Bo" Verser, Heber Springs.
Mr. Verser owns Ozark Wild Bird Products of Heber Springs
where he also runs a small engine repair shop with his father.
A graduate of Arkansas Tech University with degrees in Biology
and Fish and Wildlife Management, Mr. Verser has been an avid
birder for more than 20 years. Mr. Verser represents the Audubon
Chapters in the state on the board. |
